LICENSING OPTIONS
SYNCHRONIZATION LICENSE
Our most common license granted is a sync license. A "sync" license is any license granted for a song used in a movie, movie trailer, video game, TV commercial, web video, etc. In short, music set to any moving image in multiple media.
MECHANICAL LICENSE
Collector Publishing also grants mechanical licenses for the songs we represent. The difference between a sync license request and a mechanical request is simple: a sync request deals with any song that is used with a visual medium (a video game, a movie trailer, a TV commercial), while a mechanical license is only for the license of audio and songs for a recorded medium (a CD compilation or a deluxe digital edition/reissue package, etc.).
MASTER LICENSE
A master license refers to the recorded portion of the music (not the release), and is typically handled by the record label that released the track and owns the master rights to the song. Collector Publishing now handles the master files of the Colector Records records on the master side, as well as continuing to represent the publication of our million-plus copyrights.
MUSIC PRODUCTION LICENSE
